I went to Jeongwoo Building for a salad, but the irresistible aroma of Mala Tang lured me into Geumhwa Kungfu Mala Tang!

This spot is located in the basement of the building.

Here’s what’s special about this place:
Geumhwa Kungfu Mala Tang is independently owned, and they simmer their broth using real beef bones for over 48 hours! They also use 30 fresh ingredients every day, and everything from the broth to the seasoning is made in-house. It’s the perfect spot for a hearty and healthy meal after a long day. 💪

The menu features some interesting drinks.

The seating is perfect whether you’re eating solo or with a group. I opted for a solo meal this time. 🧑🍳

Even though I’m a regular at Mala Tang places, I glanced at their instructions on the wall—it’s always fun to see how each spot does things. 😄

Grab your basket and tongs, and head over to the ingredient counter!

I was impressed by how fresh and clean the ingredients looked.

You can choose to dine in or get it to-go. They even have instant ramen noodles!

For my Mala Tang, I chose a lot of mung bean sprouts, sweet potato noodles, corn noodles, bok choy, mushrooms, one piece of ham, and, of course, cilantro. It didn’t look like much in the basket, but after weighing it, the total came out to 12,000 KRW. 😅
One of the staff recommended adding more meat, so I did! I added lamb for an additional 3,000 KRW. 🐑

Geumhwa Kungfu Mala Tang stands out because they only use broth that’s been simmered for 48 hours and make all their sauces and seasonings in-house. Next time, I’ll definitely be trying the Mala Xiang Guo!

Here’s the basic setup: chopsticks, tissues, and even aprons are provided. There’s also a self-service bar where you can grab more toppings, and there’s a cute cat figurine keeping you company. 🐱

My 15,000 KRW Mala Tang finally arrived!
I chose the spice level just above the mild white broth, and while the broth looked quite red, it was surprisingly clear when scooped up with a spoon.

The unique powder sprinkled on top added an interesting depth to the flavor.

All the ingredients were cooked perfectly, and the broth was something else—rich, with a perfect balance of beef bone and mala flavors. 😋
Definitely one of the best Mala Tang broths I’ve had!

Each table has candy for a sweet finish.
A nice little touch that shows just how thoughtful this place is! 🍬
