Finally visited Hinoyama, a well-known udon spot I had bookmarked for a while 😊

It’s located in Central Plaza.
For parking, follow Mokdongseo-ro and turn left at the plaza to find the entrance to the parking lot.

You’ll spot Hinoyama (a handmade udon specialty shop) as soon as you enter the building.

Since 1992, Hinoyama has been making udon using 360-hour aged soy sauce broth and 11-hour aged dough. Their udon is inspired by the Sanuki Udon from Japan's Kanto region, which is famous for using high-quality wheat produced in Shikoku. Hinoyama proudly carries on this tradition, offering authentic Sanuki udon.

They’re certified as a “Centennial Store” by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in Korea, recognizing their long-standing history and consistent popularity over 30 years.

This spot has also been featured on TV shows like “Live Today” and “Morning Wide”, further boosting its reputation.

I went around 2 PM on a Sunday, hoping the lunch rush would be over, but there was still a wait.

There were about four groups ahead of us, so we put our name down and waited.

They also sell fresh udon noodles and sea salt here.

There's even a sample of the noodles on display!

On the opposite side, you'll find the noodle aging room, which is quite interesting to see.

They were also running a free giveaway event, but it had already sold out by the time we arrived (no surprise!).

The famous flat udon is also sold on a first-come, first-served basis, so you have to come early to snag some!

On this hot day, they started serving cold udon, which sounded so refreshing! 😎

We didn’t have to wait long before we were called to enter.

The atmosphere inside was cozy, with a mix of solo diners and groups.

We went for the Hinoyama Special Set (18,000 KRW) and the Bukkake Udon Set (15,900 KRW).

Hinoyama Special Set

It also came with a bowl of udon noodles on the side.

The ingredients were so generous, and the pork was super thick and juicy!

Hinoyama Special Set

This set comes with king prawns and thick pork loin simmered in a homemade sauce with vegetables.

The ingredients were so generous, and the pork was incredibly thick and juicy! 😋

It's paired with a serving of udon noodles.

Having udon with it made the dish even more satisfying.

Bukkake Udon Set
The Bukkake Udon Set comes with inari sushi and tempura.

The freshly boiled udon noodles are served with homemade tsuyu sauce, grated radish, scallions, crispy tempura bits (tengaku), and a squeeze of lemon.

First, squeeze the lemon, then mix in all the toppings—just a bit of wasabi for that extra zing!

The texture of the noodles was so bouncy and glossy, you could tell they were freshly made.

The flavors came together perfectly in every bite.

For someone who isn’t a fan of soggy tempura, I enjoyed the nabe, but the bukkake udon was the real star of the show.

The mix of textures and fresh, cold udon was so good I couldn’t stop eating! 😍

The restaurant’s decor gives off a cozy, traditional vibe, and you can even see the noodle-making room from inside. Every year, Hinoyama earns the Blue Ribbon Award.

And the walls are lined with autographs from various celebrities who’ve visited.

As a nice touch, you can enjoy a refreshing, sweet plum drink on your way out to finish off the meal!
If you're an udon lover, Hinoyama is definitely worth a visit!
