On a sunny Saturday afternoon,
I decided to visit Yongsan Park's partially opened area.
The weather was perfect! ☀️
The area used to be a U.S. military facility, and you can follow the wall as you walk along.
At the entrance, there’s a sign that reads,
“Reflecting on the past, dreaming of the future, and focusing on today.”
The park is closed on Mondays, so make sure to plan accordingly!
As soon as you enter, there’s a road to the left and a visitor center straight ahead.
The staff at the visitor center will guide you inside. 🏞
Inside the visitor center, you’ll find many maps of Yongsan Park, showing how it was once used as officer housing.
Now, it has been remodeled into a cultural exhibition and experience space, allowing visitors to participate in the creation of Yongsan Park.
There's also a water dispenser and restroom available.
After passing through the visitor center, you'll see a large, open space with a sign for Building 5506 standing quietly amidst the greenery.
A: Majung Nuri
The contrast between the red bricks and green plants is striking but harmonious.
It feels like an outdoor gallery with photos of the space from the past.
There are benches scattered around, offering plenty of places to relax. 🌳
B: Youth Creative Yard
This area is designed for youth to engage in social activities or simply relax.
Every photo I took felt like an art piece! 😊
There's also an indoor playground for children, and lots of kids were having fun there.
4: Delnae Bomnae
Delnae Bomnae is a spacious lawn that invites you to relax with the fresh scents of nature.
The name translates to “the scent of the field and spring.”
We waited for about three groups before it was our turn to take photos here. 📸
Several models and photographers were shooting commercial photos as well!
E: Youth Green Yard
This section is dedicated to teens, offering a place to communicate and unwind.
There’s also an Open House, a remodeled home that was once used by U.S. military families.
It felt like touring a model home, with the space laid out so thoughtfully!
The house even has a second floor. 🌿
There’s a kids' playroom, and various exhibits in each room.
There’s even running water in the bathrooms, though the toilets are marked as "out of use."
There’s a vast open plaza, and I even saw some people filming dance videos there. 💃🎥
Moving along, there are indoor spaces you can explore, where you can see historical photos of Yongsan.
I couldn’t resist taking a picture next to one of the signs! 📸
6: Yongsan Park Research Center
This area includes archives and office spaces that house materials on the park’s history and development.
5: Nuri Room
We headed into the Nuri Room Café, a unique space where you must remove your shoes to enter.
It’s a family-friendly spot, and little ones were playing happily when we visited. 🧸
The café was only serving water from the dispenser that day, so we helped ourselves! 💧
Each room on the first floor had its own layout, with various tables, and the restroom facilities were well-maintained.
The café was spacious, but the second floor was even cozier, making it perfect for a private moment with just one group per room.
The view outside was so lovely, and even the restrooms had an aesthetic touch!
As we left the café, I spotted some beautiful roses outside. 🌹
D: Senior Silver Yard
This section, designed for seniors to restore both mind and body, was still under preparation.
It’s an open lounge where visitors can enjoy a shared kitchen and relaxing space.
You even have to take off your shoes here, just like in the café.
Although there’s a large sports field, it didn’t seem to be open for access at the time.
The rose garden and fountain in front of the Senior Silver Yard were delightful! 🌸
Yongsan Wall
A part of the actual brick wall from the original military base has been preserved and displayed as a historical element of the park.
10: Yongsan Park Exhibition Space
In the gallery zone, you can learn about Yongsan Park’s history and see various designs and ideas that were proposed for the park.
Although not all designs were selected, it’s fascinating to see the different concepts.
The hallways also offer quiet spaces to sit and reflect.
There’s even a spot where you can leave notes with cute stationery. 📝
As we finished our visit, we caught a glimpse of the famous Namsan Tower peeking through the trees, a picturesque moment to end the day.
And finally, we reached the most famous photo spot in the park!
At first, I couldn’t find it, but since the park is laid out in a loop, we eventually came across it after following the road past the fountain. 😊
There was a bit of a line, but we only waited for about 5 minutes before capturing the perfect shot!
We couldn’t help but take more photos in other beautiful spots nearby as well. 😉
After a relaxing stroll, we found the exit right next to the entrance.
The weather was so perfect that it made our visit truly enjoyable.
Despite my worries about the park being too crowded on a sunny Saturday afternoon, the space was so large that it didn’t feel overwhelming at all.
With plenty of shaded areas and indoor spots to cool off, it was a perfect mix of warm sun and refreshing breezes.
If you’re looking for a beautiful place to relax, take photos, and enjoy a stroll, I highly recommend visiting the Yongsan Park Partial Open Area! 🌟
