It had been a while since I last painted, and I really wanted to pick up my brush again.
So, I found and booked a watercolor one-day class! 🎨
You can easily find it from Sadang Station (Exit 11) or Isu Station (Exit 6).
It's located on the first floor of a red-brick building, right in front of a small park.
The combination of the park and the red-brick building is so charming!
The weather was perfect, with blue skies, the red-brick house, and the lush green park across the street! 🌿
With excitement in my heart, I entered the studio 😊
As soon as you step in, the space immediately feels perfect for creating art.
It feels like the kind of place where you can truly get inspired to paint.
You can tell right away that it's a space designed for art!
One person was painting a masterpiece, and the teacher was providing such clear and helpful demonstrations.
I highly recommend this place for hobby painting in Sadang!
The room is filled with palettes and artwork, creating an inspiring atmosphere.
I spent quite a bit of time just admiring the space 😊
There's also a designated photo zone where you can take pictures with your finished artwork!
I couldn't wait to finish my piece and take photos 😁
Artworks were displayed here and there on the walls.
It truly felt like an art studio!
This was the seat prepared for us, and I was more than satisfied!
We could paint while looking out at the park in front of us 💚
Once we put on our aprons, we were ready to begin!
We had booked a Botanical Art class today—painting flowers with watercolors!
We could choose from a variety of sample artworks.
We decided on two.
First, we practiced using the watercolor paints.
The teacher demonstrated each step, explaining everything clearly.
We prepared our practice paper and watercolor materials, and the palette was so cute! 😍
I practiced confidently, experimenting with the colors.
It was just practice, so I felt free to play around! 😆
After practice, it was time to sketch our chosen flowers.
Using a light pad, we placed the sample artwork underneath.
With the lights off and the light pad on, the image below becomes visible, making it easy to trace.
Once the sketch was done, the teacher explained how to do the first wash of color.
We started with a light wash, leaving the white areas for highlights.
The studio even provided refreshments, including cold green tea! 🍵
The hydrangea I chose required a lot of patience, as I had to carefully paint each petal and build up the mid-tones.
Meanwhile, the tulip was already coming together quickly! 🌷
Even after the tulip was finished, I kept working on my hydrangea.
The teacher was really helpful, giving guidance and lending a hand when needed 💕
Finally, my piece was complete!
I signed it and added the date 😊
We took pictures in the studio’s photo zone.
I love how my artwork looked even better in the photos, with the cozy atmosphere of the studio adding to the charm.
We also took a few photos in front of the curtain—both of us were really happy with how our paintings turned out! 😊
They even gave us transparent wrapping paper to pack up our artwork.
The teacher was so thoughtful and detail-oriented 💖
The class lasted a little over an hour and a half, but we were so focused that time flew by.
We barely talked because we were so absorbed in painting! 😄
The teacher was super kind, explaining everything well and even helping us with the finer details, which led to some really satisfying results.
Whether you're taking a one-day class by yourself, pursuing art as a hobby, or looking for a fun activity with friends, Jangmi Art Studio is highly recommended!
